The Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League announced Thursday they have signed goaltender Tuukka Rask to a professional tryout agreement.

Rask previously played for Providence — the farm team of the NHL's Boston Bruins — during the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons.

The 34-year-old from Savonlinna, Finland, has spent 14 seasons with Boston and is the franchise's all-time winningest goaltender with 306 victories. He captured the Vezina Trophy as the league's top netminder in 2013-14.

Rask, who sustained a torn hip labrum during the 2021 Stanley Cup playoffs, has been skating with Boston recently, and the unrestricted free agent indicated he would only sign with the Bruins.

Rask is scheduled to make his season debut Friday at home against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, the AHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers.
