One of the Detroit Red Wings' star veterans will be out of the lineup for some time.
Patrick Kane has been listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury and will be out for the Red Wings' matchup against the Montreal Canadiens, head coach Todd McLellan announced Thursday.
McLellan noted that Kane's injury occurred in the team's 4-1 loss to the Dallas Stars on Jan. 19.
The three-time Stanley Cup champion has recorded 11 goals and 30 points in 42 games this season.
The Red Wings (21-21-5) sit seventh in the Atlantic division but still remain in the playoff hunt, sitting five points back of a wild card spot.
