Ben Chiarot is staying in Detroit.
The veteran defenceman signed a three-year extension with the Red Wings carrying an average annual value of $3.85 million, the team announced Wednesday.
Chiarot has played every game for the Red Wings this season, recording four goals and seven assists. It is his fourth season in Detroit.
The 34-year-old was drafted in the fourth round in 2009 by the Atlanta Thrashers, and made his NHL debut in the 2013-14 season after the franchise moved to Winnipeg.
Chiarot played five seasons for the Jets, followed by short stints in Montreal and Florida before joining the Red Wings. In 777 NHL games, he has 49 goals and 132 assists.
The Red Wings (32-17-5) are second in the Atlantic Division, and are set to host the Washington Capitals on Thursday.
