Olli Maatta is staying put in the Motor City after signing a two-year contract extension with the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday.
Maatta's new deal carries a $3 million cap hit according to PuckPedia.
Maatta was set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season after joining the Red Wings on a one-year deal last summer.
The 28-year-old from Jyvaskyla, Finland, has 17 points (five goals and 12 assists) in 49 games this year while averaging 18:11 minutes of ice time.
