The Detroit Red Wings have added forward Riley Barber on a two-year contract, the team announced Saturday.

Barber, 26, has 283 games of American League Hockey experience in his career, logging 217 points in that span. He also has appeared in 12 NHL games, including nine with the Montreal Canadiens last season.

The Pittsburgh, Pa., native was a sixth-round draft pick by the Washington Capitals in 2012. He captained the United States at the IIHF World Junior Championship in 2014, after winning gold at the tournament in 2013.
