Red Wings sign Ian Mitchell to one-year, $775K deal

Ian Mitchell is heading to the Motor City.

The defenceman has signed a one-year, $775,000 deal with the Detroit Red Wings, the NHL team announced Tuesday.

Mitchell, 26, split the last two seasons between the Boston Bruins and their AHL Providence affiliate. He has four goals and 15 assists in 110 career NHL games with the Chicago Blackhawks and Bruins.
