The Detroit Red Wings have signed centre J.T. Compher to a five-year contract with an AAV of $5.5 million.
Compher, a Stanley Cup champ with the 2022 Colorado Avalanche, scored 17 goals for a career-high 52 points last season with the Avs and was due a raise.
The 28-year-old has a history with Michigan, spending four years playing with the University of Michigan Wolverines, where he was teammates with current Red Wing Andrew Copp.
Selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the second round of the 2013 NHL Draft, Compher's rights were traded to the Avalanche as part of the deal that sent Ryan O'Reilly to the Sabres. He signed an entry-level contract with the Avalanche in 2016.
