The Detroit Red Wings have signed the fourth-overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, Lucas Raymond, to a three-year, entry-level deal beginning in 2021-22, the team announced Friday.
The smooth-skating, playmaking winger put up 18 points in 34 games with Frolunda in the SHL this season.
The native of Gothenburg, Sweden also starred for his country at the 2021 world juniors, tying for the team lead in points with five in five games.
Raymond -- who clocks in at five-foot-10, 183 pounds -- is the Red Wings' highest draft pick since they took Keith Primeau third overall in 1990 and is expected to lead the next generation of stars in Detroit as the franchise undergoes a complete rebuild since its last playoff season in 2015-16.
