The Detroit Red Wings traded the 23rd pick along with selections No. 48 and No. 138 to the Dallas Stars in exchange for No. 15 and selected Edmonton Oil Kings goalie Sebastian Cossa.

Cossa posted a .921 save percentage in 33 games as a rookie to finish tied for third-best in the WHL before the pandemic paused play in 2019-20.

The six-foot-six, 210-pound netminder of Fort McMurray, Alta., followed that up in 2020-21 with a WHL-best .941 save percentage in 19 starts.
