An Original Misfit is back to stay with the Vegas Golden Knights.
Reilly Smith, who was part of the original expansion team in 2017, will re-sign with the Golden Knights on a one-year deal worth $2 million and avoid testing the market, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported Wednesday.
Smith was with the Golden Knights from 2017 to 2023, when he was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins, where he spent one season before heading to the New York Rangers. The 34-year-old was acquired once again by the Golden Knights at the 2025 trade deadline.
In 79 games split between the Rangers and Golden Knights last season, Smith had 13 goals and 40 points.
The Etobicoke, Ont. native has appeared in 919 NHL games over the course of a 14-season career, potting 226 goals and 553 points.
Prior to joining the Golden Knights in 2017, Smith played for the Florida Panthers, Boston Bruins and Dallas Stars.
