Report: Avalanche not giving qualifying offer to Aube-Kubel

Phil Pritchard, the 'keeper of the cup,' comments on the mishap during the Colorado Avalanche team photo that resulted in denting the Stanley Cup near its base.

The Colorado Avalanche will not make a qualifying offer to winger Nicolas Aubé-Kubel, which will make him an unrestricted free agent on Wednesday, The Athletic's Peter Baugh reports.

Aubé-Kubel had 11 goals and 12 assists for 23 points in 74 games with the Stanley Cup champion Avalanche last season.

The 26-year-old native of Slave Lake, Alta. didn't record a point in 14 playoff games, but did make headlines when he dropped the Stanley Cup, denting the trophy, prior to a team photo on the ice last month.

Aubé-Kubel has 21 goals and 29 assists in 169 career regular-season games.
