After working as a seller at the deadline, the Chicago Blackhawks have made an acquisition to beef up their blue line depth.
The Blackhawks acquired defenceman Derrick Pouliot from the New York Rangers in exchange for forward Aidan Thompson, The Athletic's Scott Powers reported Friday.
Pouliot, 32, has spent the entire 2025-26 season in the AHL with the Hartford Wolf Pack, tallying two goals and 26 assists in 52 games.
The Estevan, Sask., native hasn't suited up in NHL action since the 2023-24 season while with the Dallas Stars. In 226 career NHL games, Pouliot has eight goals and 46 assists.
Thompson, 24, was selected 90th overall by the Blackhawks in the 2022 NHL Draft. He has six goals and nine assists in 40 AHL games this season.
