Boston Bruins forward Charlie Coyle has been added to the NHL's COVID-19 protocol list and will miss Wednesday's game against the Washington Capitals, according to Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press.

Coyle, who turned 29 on Tuesday, has played in all 19 of the Bruins' games this season, collecting five goals and eight points in the process.

Players on the NHL's COVID-19 protocol list have not necessarily tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The NHL releases an updated list for all 31 teams every day at 5 p.m. ET. As of Wednesday, only four players -- Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby, Nashville's Ryan Johansen, San Jose's Tomas Hertl, and Coyle -- were on the list, matching the fewest number of players in protocol this season.
