The Montreal Canadiens are adding some goaltender depth.
The team announced Tuesday that it has inked netminder Kaapo Kahkonen to a one-year deal for the 2025-26 season.
The 28-year-old appeared in just one game in the NHL last season with the Colorado Avalanche, registering a 4.12 goals-against average and a .800 save percentage.
He split time with the Colorado Eagles, Manitoba Moose and Charlotte Checkers in the AHL, where he put up a 14-20-1-1 record with a 2.91 goals-against average and a .894 save percentage.
The Finnish netminder was selected in the fourth round of the 2014 NHL Draft by the Minnesota Wild.
In 140 career NHL appearances, he has a 49-68-15 record with a 3.34 goals-against average and a .898 save percentage.
