The Philadelphia Flyers have signed defenceman Nick Seeler to the four-year, $10.8-million contract extension, the team announced Wednesday.
Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff reported that the contract includes $2.5 million in signing bonuses.
Seeler is playing out the final year of a two-year deal with an annual cap hit of $775,000. It was actually a two-way deal this season, but the 30-year-old has established himself as a full-timer with the Flyers.
Playing a physical style, the six-foot-three American leads the NHL with 184 blocked shots and has one goal and 11 assists for 12 points in 63 games this season.
The Flyers occupy the third playoff spot in the Metropolitan Division. Despite that, the club did trade defenceman Sean Walker — who, like Seeler, was a pending UFA — to the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday.
