The Carolina Hurricanes are getting some new minority owners.
Owner Tom Dundon has agreed to sell 12.5 per cent of the team at a $2.66 billion valuation, Sportico reported on Thursday.
Per Sportico, the deal includes three minority partners, all of whom are remaining anonymous.
Dundon, who owns Dundon Capital Partners based in Dallas, is in the process of acquiring the Portland Trail Blazers in the NBA, which is expected to close later this week, though Sportico notes that it's unclear if the two are related.
Dundon became the majority owner of the Hurricanes in 2018 and completed all minority purchases in 2021 to become sole owner. Under his leadership, the team has made the playoffs in seven straight years and is considered a perennial Cup contender.
The Hurricanes had the ninth-best attendance in the NHL last season.
