Seattle Kraken forward Andre Burakovsky will be out six-to-eight weeks with an upper-body injury.
The Kraken travelled to Detroit on Sunday ahead of Tuesday's contest against the Detroit Red Wings.
“From early indications, it looks like he’ll be out 6-8 weeks,” Francis told Geoff Baker of The Seattle Times. “We’ll have more details on that in a bit.”
Burakovsky was injured after a hit from Rangers captain Jacob Trouba in Saturday's loss. Trouba was given a minor penalty for boarding on the play.
"He finished the check. I haven't looked all that close at it," head coach Dave Hakstol said of the hit. "You might be able to make an argument that it was a little bit late or not. I'm not gonna go that way, I didn't see anything egregious on it. Do I like it? No. We lost a player out of it. You know, that's where we're at."
Burakovsky was leading the Kraken in scoring last season when his campaign was cut short by a groin injury in early February.
The 28-year-old has two assists in six games this season.
