Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Ilya Samsonov left Saturday morning's practice with an apparent injury, Sports Illustrated's David Alter reported.
Coach Sheldon Keefe later told reporters that Samsonov was OK and that the goaltender would play Saturday night against the Carolina Hurricanes.
"Sammy's fine. He'll play tonight. Leave me alone," Keefe said.
Samsonov fell awkwardly after attempting to make a save, then made his way off the ice to the team's locker room. The 27-year-old netminder is in line to make his third consecutive start when he faces the Hurricanes.
After struggling to start the season, which included being placed on waivers, Samsonov has been playing like a No. 1 option as of late.
Samsonov is 13-2 over his past 15 games and has a .933 save percentage in March.
Although he's seemingly in the clear, if for some reason Samsonov is unable to start against the Hurricanes, the Maple Leafs will most likely turn to 25-year-old Joseph Woll.
Either way, you can watch the Maple Leafs take on the Hurricanes live on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT.
