Ottawa Senators forward Josh Norris is progressing after suffering an upper-body injury against the Calgary Flames last week and is expected to be out day-to-day, according to Postmedia's Bruce Garrioch.
According to Garrioch, the 24-year-old was practising in a non-contact jersey on Monday.
Norris suffered the injury last Tuesday late in the third period against the Flames, when he ran into Elias Lindholm, causing him to cartwheel and land awkwardly.
He remained down on the ice, clutching his head as teammate Brady Tkachuk immediately called for training staff. Norris was eventually able to skate off the ice on his own.
On his Saturday Headlines segment on Hockey Night in Canada, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported that Norris' injury didn't appear to be serious or long-term.
Norris, 24, missed nearly the entire 2022-23 season with a shoulder injury. Poised to return for the start of this season, he suffered a setback ahead of training camp, forcing him to miss the first three games of the season.
A 35-goal scorer in his last full season (2021-22), Norris has struggled as of late to find the back of the net, going pointless in his last six games. He has 12 goals and 20 points in 32 games this season.
