The Toronto Maple Leafs are continuing to trim down their roster ahead of opening night.
Depth centre David Kampf was placed on waivers on Friday, Sportsnet can confirm.
The move to waive Kampf comes in spite of a lower-body injury for centreman Scott Laughton, who is being considered week-to-week.
Kampf, 30, has been with the Maple Leafs for the past four seasons, signing with the team as a free agent ahead of the 2021-22 campaign.
Last year, the Chomutov, Czechia, native tallied five goals and eight assists in 59 games with the Maple Leafs — all of which were lows in his four seasons with the club.
Over his eight-year career, the six-foot-two, 193-pound forward has 48 goals and 95 assists in 536 games, split between the Maple Leafs and Chicago Blackhawks.
