The Colorado Avalanche won their playoff opener on Saturday against the Dallas Stars, but lost a player due to injury.
Ross Colton did not play most of the third period in the Avalanche's 5-1 victory.
The 28-year-old centre had just one shift in the final frame and finished the game having recorded 7:04 of ice time.
It was not clear when or how exactly Colton suffered the injury, though his last shift ended less than two minutes into the third.
Following the game, head coach Jared Bednar told reporters that Colton left with a lower-body injury and was still being evaluated, with an update expected Sunday.
Colton totalled 29 points (16 goals, 13 assists) in 63 regular-season games, missing time due to injuries, including the Avalanche’s final four games.
With Colorado now up 1-0 in the first-round series, Game 2 is set for Monday at 9:30 p.m. ET / 7:30 p.m. MT.
