The Sabres and Hurricanes have made a small swap for some added AHL depth.
Buffalo has acquired defenceman Gavin Bayreuther from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for forward Viktor Neuchev, the Sabres announced on Saturday.
Bayreuther, who returned to North America after spending the 2024-25 season playing for Lausanne in the Swiss National League, has bounced between the NHL and AHL throughout his professional career.
The left-shot defenceman has five goals and 28 points through 122 NHL games. He will be assigned to the Rochester Americans.
Neuchev, 22, was a third-round draft pick by the Sabres in 2022. He has six goals and 16 points in 34 games this season with Rochester.
He has yet to play in an NHL game.
