The Buffalo Sabres are adding to their blue line.
The Sabres acquired defenceman Olen Zellweger from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for centre prospect Anton Wahlberg and the 45th-overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft on Friday.
Zellweger, a second-round pick (34th overall) of the Ducks in 2021, made his NHL debut in January 2024. The 22-year-old put up 22 points with 15 assists and added a goal and an assist in three playoff games last season.
Wahlberg was taken 39th overall in the 2023 draft by the Sabres. In 68 games with AHL Rochester last season, he had 29 assists and 38 points. The 20-year-old has yet to make his NHL debut.
With the acquisition of the 45th pick, the Ducks now own seven selections in the 2026 NHL Draft, including two second-rounders but no first-rounder.
The Sabres have two first-round picks (Nos. 4 and 20) in Friday's first round on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ at 6:30 p.m. ET / 3:30 p.m. PT.
