The Buffalo Sabres will be without a depth centre for Game 1 against the Montreal Canadiens.
Sam Carrick won't play in Wednesday night's series-opening contest, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Tanner Pearson is taking warmups for Buffalo, Friedman added.
Carrick was originally ruled out for the entirety of the second round, but was instead listed as day-to-day on Tuesday, head coach Lindy Ruff told reporters.
The 10-year NHL veteran has been practising with the Sabres ahead of their clash with the Canadiens.
