Sabres' Dahlin, Krueger return to practice after time on COVID-19 protocol list

Buffalo Sabres defenceman Rasmus Dahlin and head coach Ralph Krueger returned to team practice on Sunday after spending time on the league's COVID-19 protocol list.

Krueger was seen wearing an N95 mask at practice and fist bumping trainers and players. The Sabres announced on Feb. 4 that Krueger tested positive for COVID-19 and would enter the league's protocols.

Dahlin was added to the COVID protocol list on Feb. 8. The 20-year-old has three points in 10 games so far this season.

Anyone on the protocol list is unable to practice, travel with the team or play in games until they are removed, but being on the list does not necessarily mean a person has tested positive for COVID-19. With Dahlin's removal seemingly imminent, seven Sabres players will remain under the league's protocols.

Buffalo was among the NHL's hardest-hit teams during the latest wave of COVID-19-related absences. Nine Sabres players, including Taylor Hall who returned to practice on Saturday, had been placed in the protocol this month as well as Krueger. The Sabres have also had four games postponed so far.

It is not known at this time if Dahlin or Krueger will be available for Buffalo's next game, which takes place Monday against the New York Islanders.
