The Buffalo Sabres' roster has taken another hit.
Forward Jiri Kulich will miss "significant time" with a blood-clot issue, coach Lindy Ruff said at practice Monday.
Kulich has missed the past three games.
“It’s related to a blood clot that was found,” Ruff said, per the team. “I’m not gonna go any further into detail, but pretty serious.”
Ruff said he is hopeful Kulich plays again this season.
The 28th-overall pick in 2022, Kulich has three goals and two assists in 12 games this season.
Meanwhile, fellow forward Jason Zucker also will miss the team's upcoming three-game trip because of a viral illness.
“He hasn’t been able to shake (the illness),” Ruff said. “Undergone a lot of tests and still isn’t doing that well.”
Forward Zach Benson, who has missed the past three games, is progressing from a lower-body injury, but isn't ready to play quite yet.
The Sabres also are missing captain and star defenceman Rasmus Dahlin, who is taking on a leave of absence to take care of a personal matter in Sweden.
The Sabres, who have the longest playoff drought in the NHL, are tied for last in the Eastern Conference.
