The surging Buffalo Sabres may have to continue their quest for a playoff spot without one of their top centres.
Josh Norris exited Wednesday's game early against the Philadelphia Flyers and was later ruled out by the team with an upper-body injury.
After the game, head coach Lindy Ruff told reporters that Norris was cross-checked in ribs following the Sabres' fourth goal, and that he is will undergo evaluation.
Ruff added that the team hopes it isn't serious.
Norris missed 26 games for the Sabres at the start of the year with an upper-body injury. He returned on Dec. 1 and has been an important part of the Sabres' resurgence with six goals and 16 points in 18 games prior to Wednesday.
Before exiting, he logged 8:55 of ice time with one assist.
The 26-year-old has an extensive injury history, having undergone three shoulder surgeries throughout his college and NHL careers and has not played a full 82-game season.
He reached a career-high 56 games split between the Ottawa Senators and Sabres in 2024-25 before he was sidelined with a torn oblique muscle.
