The Buffalo Sabres could get some depth back in the lineup as they hit the road in their second-round series against the Montreal Canadiens.
Head coach Lindy Ruff told reporters Saturday that centre Sam Carrick is available to play in Game 3 (Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ with coverage starting at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT).
Carrick was originally ruled out for the entirety of the second round, but was instead listed as day-to-day on Tuesday.
The 10-year NHL veteran has been practising with the Sabres but did not play in the first two games of the series.
Carrick last played on March 31 when he sustained an upper-body injury during a fight with New York Islanders captain Anders Lee. Carrick said the initial thought was that he would be sidelined for six to eight weeks, but credited the Sabres' rehabilitation team for his accelerated recovery.
