The Buffalo Sabres have signed defenceman Joseph Cecconi to a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000, the team announced Friday.
Cecconi, 26, had three goals and five assists in 41 games for Buffalo's AHL affiliate in Rochester last season after he was acquired in a trade with the Dallas Stars in December. He helped the Americans advance to the AHL's Eastern Conference Final.
The Stars selected Cecconi in the fifth round (133rd overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft. He has not played an NHL game.
