In the midst of the Buffalo Sabres' final game of the 2023-24 season, forward Tage Thompson's year came to an unfortunate early end.
The 26-year-old centre was ruled out for the remainder of the team's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning with a lower-body injury. He left the game in the first period, and it was unclear how Thompson suffered the injury.
Buffalo would hold on for a 4-2 win over Tampa Bay, finishing the season with a 39-37-6 record.
Thompson finishes the season with 29 goals and 59 points in 71 games for the Sabres.
