Expansion Draft Blog: How the Seattle Kraken first came together

Elliotte Friedman joins Sportsnet Central to discuss why the Seattle Kraken didn't take Carey Price, what deals could go down after the expansion draft and the latest on Zach Hyman.

The Seattle Kraken made 30 choices on Wednesday in their expansion draft and there were definitely some surprises along the way.

The team was able to find value in net, added some big players to the defence and didn't take any of the most highly paid players who were left unprotected. Six players will be under contract for more than two seasons with the team and, surprisingly, no side trades were announced.

On Thursday at 1 p.m. ET, the league-wide roster freeze will be lifted and teams will be free to start trading again. Friday night brings the NHL Draft, which you can watch on Sportsnet beginning at 8 p.m. ET.

It was a busy day folks, but the fun is just getting started. Here is a recap of how the Kraken's first roster took shape. Thanks for following along.
