An Ottawa Senators prospect was injured on the final day of the pre-season.
Forward Adam Nemec suffered an upper-body injury in the first period of a game against the Montreal Canadiens and was ruled out shortly after.
The injury occurred when Nemec was hit by Canadiens forward Florian Xhekaj along the boards in the Senators' zone. Nemec stayed down on the ice and was slow to get up after the hit, and didn't take another shift. Xhekaj was given a two-minute minor penalty for interference and the Senators opened the scoring while on the power play.
Nemec, 18, was a third-round pick by the Senators in this past June's draft. He is expected to rejoin the OHL's Sudbury Wolves this season after scoring 14 goals and 35 points in 31 games with the Wolves a year ago.
He is the younger brother of Calgary Flames defenceman Simon Nemec.
