Ottawa Senators winger Anthony Duclair will become an unrestricted free agent after the team didn't extend him a qualifying offer before Wednesday's deadline.
Senators GM Pierre Dorion confirmed the news in his post-draft press conference, adding that the Senators offered Duclair a raise but an agreement couldn't be reached with the 25-year-old, who is representing himself.
Duclair, 25, reached the 40-point mark for the second time in his career last season while scoring a career-high 23 goals. He represented the Senators at the all-star game last season and earned $1.65 million on a one-year contract.
Dorion also announced Wednesday that defenceman Andreas Englund and forward Jayce Hawryluk were not qualified either.
