Claude Giroux is returning to the place he calls home.
The forward has signed a new one-year deal with the Ottawa Senators, the team announced Tuesday.
The contract is worth $2 million and has bonuses that could reach a maximum value of $5 million.
Giroux, 38, played in all 82 games of the Senators' 2025–26 season. It marked the 10th time in his NHL career he did not mis a single game in a season. Last season, Giroux potted 14 goals and 49 points in 82 games.
“I chose to come back because I want to be here. I’m excited to be an Ottawa Senator,” Giroux said in a statement. “Being around those guys for four years, we got really close. This team feels like a family. I just care for those players.”
A native of Hearst, Ont., Giroux was previously the longtime captain of the Philadelphia Flyers, who drafted him 22nd overall in 2006, before trading him at the 2022 deadline to the Florida Panthers.
For his career, he’s played in 1,345 NHL games with 379 goals and 1,165 points.
“Claude took his time to evaluate his options and his decision to re-sign with us shows his belief and commitment to our group,” Senators general manager Steve Staios said in a statement. “He is the consummate professional and brings veteran experience to our core on an off the ice.”
