The Ottawa Senators fired senior vice-president of player development Pierre McGuire on Monday after one season with the club, Sportsnet can confirm.

McGuire was hired in July 2021 to work with general manager Pierre Dorion.

McGuire took the job with the Senators after spending the past 20 years in broadcasting.

Before entering broadcasting, McGuire was a coach with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Hartford Whalers and also served as a scout for the Senators.

Ottawa missed the playoffs this past season for the fifth year in a row.
