Senators goaltender Joey Daccord out 'long term' with injury

DJ Smith spoke about the disappointing news of Joey Daccord's injury, and what the Ottawa Senators' plans are with their goaltending situation moving forward.

Ottawa Senators goaltender Joey Daccord is out "long term" with an injury, general manager Pierre Dorion announced Friday.

Dorion said there is no timeline on Daccord's return, but he is likely done for the season.

The announcement is another blow to the Senators' goaltending. Starter Matt Murray is currently listed as week-to-week, with Murray's original backup, Marcus Hogberg, also out with a lower-body injury.

On Wednesday, Ottawa picked up Anton Forsberg on waivers from the Winnipeg Jets. He will be suiting up with the AHL's Belleville Senators on Saturday to get a game in.

Daccord started Wednesday's game against the Vancouver Canucks, but went down with an apparent leg injury in the third period, causing Filip Gustavsson to make his NHL debut in relief.
