The Ottawa Senators are padding their depth in the crease.
Goalie Hunter Shepard has signed a one-year, two-way contract with the club, it announced on Wednesday.
Shepard, 29, appeared in 39 games for the AHL's Hershey Bears — the Washington Capitals' affiliate — last season, posting a 23-11-4 record with an .891 save percentage and 2.80 goals-against average.
The Cohasset, Minn., native has appeared in five career NHL games, all with the Capitals, registering an .866 save percentage and 3.93 GAA.
He spent four years at the University of Minnesota-Duluth before latching on with the ECHL's South Carolina Stingrays.
Washington is the lone NHL franchise he's been part of to date.
