Jake Sanderson is nearing a return.
After missing the Ottawa Senators' last eight games, head coach Travis Green told reporters that he expects Sanderson to play Wednesday against the Florida Panthers.
Sanderson last played in Ottawa's season opener against the Toronto Maple Leafs, suffering a lower-body injury after logging just 4:29 of ice time.
Even with one of their key players sidelined, the Senators have started the season red-hot, sitting tied for first in the Atlantic Division with a 6-2-0 record.
Ottawa visits the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday night, with Philadelphia still searching for its first win of the season.
