It seems the Ottawa Senators have escaped major injury trouble for Jake Sanderson.
Sanderson's undisclosed injury, suffered Saturday in Toronto against the Maple Leafs, is not believed to be as bad as the team originally thought, Senators coach Travis Green told reporters on Monday, per Jackson Starr of the team.
Sanderson will miss at least the next two games, and the defenceman has been sent home to Ottawa for further evaluation, Green added before Monday's game in Boston against the Bruins (Sportsnet+, 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT).
Defenceman Jorian Donovan has been recalled from AHL Belleville to fill the roster spot.
Blue-liner Cameron Crotty will enter the lineup on Monday with Sanderson out.
Sanderson played six shifts in Saturday's season-opening win before he was ruled out.
The Montana native was bothered by an injury before the season. He returned to practice last Friday after missing a good chunk of training camp and the pre-season.
Sanderson left a split-squad game on Sept. 26 for precautionary reasons.
In 2025-26, the left-shot defender tallied 14 goals and 40 assists in 67 games.
The Senators picked Sanderson fifth overall in the 2020 NHL Draft.
