Senators' Norris ruled out after sustaining upper-body injury vs. Hurricanes

Watch as Ottawa Senators forward Josh Norris is forced to leave the game with an apparent injury after colliding with Carolina Hurricanes forward Andrei Svechnikov and crashing into the boards.

Ottawa Senators centre Josh Norris left Thursday night's game against the Carolina Hurricanes after sustaining an upper-body injury and will not return.

The injury occurred in the first period when Norris received a hit from Hurricanes forward Andrei Svechnikov that sent him tumbling back-first into the boards. Norris then laid on the ice for some moments before skating off and heading to the dressing room on his own power.

The 22-year-old is in the midst of a stellar 2021-22 campaign with 18 goals through 35 games. His injury comes just days after fellow first-liner Drake Batherson fell victim to a blindside hit from Buffalo Sabres goaltender Aaron Dell, who was suspended three games. Batherson has been ruled out for two months due to a high ankle sprain.
