Ottawa Senators goaltender Matt Murray has been placed on the injured reserve, the team announced Friday.

The move is retroactive to this past Tuesday.

Murray, who has been out of the lineup due to a non-COVID-related illness, will miss the Senators' next two games and is eligible to return Thursday against the San Jose Sharks.

Murray, 27, posted a 10-13-1 record with a 3.38 goals-against average and .893 save percentage with the Senators last season after arriving via trade from the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Senators have back-to-back games coming up this weekend as they hit the road to face the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday then return home to host the Dallas Stars on Sunday.
