The 29-year-old Ontario native has played for two NHL teams during his professional career — the Senators and the Toronto Maple Leafs. After playing 35 games for the Senators during the 2019-2020 season, the forward spent 2020-2021 in the Maple Leafs organization.
Sabourin has also previously been on contracts with the Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks, though he never played at the NHL level for either organization.
The Senators picked Sabourin up as a free agent again for the 2021-2022 season. He played seven games for the team, collecting two points. The rest of Sabourin's year was spent with their AHL affiliate, the Belleville Senators. In 40 games he registered five goals and 12 assists, for a total of 17 points.
