Jake Sanderson seems to have avoided a worst-case injury scenario.
The Ottawa Senators defenceman won't play in Thursday night's game against the Philadelphia Flyers, but was seen skating on his own on Thursday at morning practice.
Sanderson played six shifts in Saturday's season-opening win against the Toronto Maple Leafs before he was ruled out.
The Montana native was bothered by an injury before the season. He returned to practice last Friday after missing a good chunk of training camp and the pre-season.
In 2025-26, the left-shot defender tallied 14 goals and 40 assists in 67 games.
The Senators picked Sanderson fifth overall in the 2020 NHL Draft.
