The Ottawa Senators' first selection at the 2025 NHL Draft was defenceman Logan Hensler, taken 23rd overall on Friday night.
Hensler, 18, tallied 12 points (two goals and 10 assists) in 32 games last season for the University of Wisconsin — his first in the NCAA.
Hensler, from Woodbury, Minn., represented Team USA at the 2025 World Juniors, recording one assist in seven games as the team captured gold.
The selection came after the Senators traded away the 21st overall pick to the Nashville Predators in exchange for Nos. 23 and 67.
Ottawa native and comedian Tom Green announced the pick.
This marked the first time the Senators drafted outside the top 20 in the first round since 2020.
