The Ottawa Senators have signed forward Nick Paul to a two-year contract, the team announced Wednesday.

The deal carries an average annual value of $1.35 million, with Paul receiving $1.2 million during the 2020-21 season and $1.5 million in 2021-22.

Paul tallied nine goals, 11 assists and 20 points in 56 games with the Senators last season -- all of which were career highs for the 25-year-old. In 112 NHL contests, Paul has registered 13 goals, 28 points and 34 penalty minutes.

“Nick Paul has worked hard to establish himself as an important player on our team,” Senators general manager Pierre Dorion said in a statement. “He brings size, competitiveness and a solid all-around game to our forward group. We’re happy to have him under contract for the next two seasons.”

The forward also recorded one goal and four points in three games with the AHL's Belleville Senators at the beginning of the 2019-20 campaign.

The Mississauga, Ont., native was selected by the Dallas Stars in the fourth round of the 2013 NHL Draft, 101st overall. He was traded to the Senators on July 1, 2014.
