The Ottawa Senators are signing forwards Derick Brassard and Michael Dal Colle to professional tryouts, general manager Pierre Dorion announced Thursday.
For Brassard, it's a return to the Senators after he played two seasons in Ottawa from 2016-2018 — helping the club to an Eastern Conference Final run in 2017 with 11 points in 19 playoff games.
The 34-year-old centre split last season between the Philadelphia Flyers and Edmonton Oilers, producing 19 points in 46 games.
Dal Colle was a No. 5 overall pick in 2014, but hasn't found his footing in the NHL. In 112 NHL games over five seasons, all with the New York Islanders, the 26-year-old has eight goals and 13 assists.
Last season, Dal Colle played almost the entirety of his campaign with the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, registering 22 points in 39 games.
Dal Colle played under Senators coach D.J. Smith in the OHL with the Oshawa Generals.
The professional tryouts announcement comes just a day after the Senators signed winger Tyler Motte to a one-year contract, adding to what's been a transformative off-season in Ottawa.
