The surging Ottawa Senators got even more good news on Friday.
Senators captain Brady Tkachuk skated with the team at practice Friday as he continues to work his way back from hand surgery.
While it's a step in the right direction, head coach Travis Green told reporters that he believes Tkachuk is still a couple of weeks away from returning to game action.
Tkachuk hasn't played since undergoing surgery on his right hand on Oct. 16.
The injury occurred when he was cross-checked into the boards by Nashville Predators defenceman Roman Josi.
Tkachuk has played in just three games this season and has three assists.
In other injury news, defenceman Thomas Chabot is listed as day-to-day and is doubtful to play on Saturday against the Los Angeles Kings.
Chabot suffered a lower-body injury in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Dallas Stars.
Ottawa has picked up at least a point in 12 of its last 14 games and sits second in the Atlantic Division with a 9-4-4 record.
