The Ottawa Senators have traded forward Evgenii Dadonov to the Vegas Golden Knights for Nick Holden and a third-round pick in the 2022 NHL draft, the team announced Wednesday.

Dadonov, 32, is coming off a down year statistically, registering 13 goals and seven assists in 55 games with the Senators after signing a three-year deal with the club last fall that followed three successful seasons in Florida upon re-joining the NHL.

The Russian winger put up career-highs across the board in 2018-19 when he tallied 28 goals and 42 assists for 70 points in 82 games with the Panthers, and was on pace to match or surpass his goals total had the 2019-20 been completed.

The cap-crunched Golden Knights cleared up $7 million in cap space on Tuesday when they sent reigning Vezina winner Marc-Andre Fleury to Chicago, and now take on Dadonov's $5 million, with Holden's $1.7-million AAV headed to Ottawa.

Holden, 34, appeared in just 17 games with Vegas last season, registering two assists.
