The Ottawa Senators have traded bruising defender Erik Gudbranson to the Nashville Predators.
In return, Ottawa will receive Brandon Fortunato and a seventh-round pick in 2023.
The 29-year-old had three points in 36 games with the Senators this season.

Gudbranson, who is on his fifth team in three years, was selected with the third pick by the Panthers in the 2010 NHL Draft, but has never lived up to his lofty draft status, topping out at 13 points with Florida in 2014-15.
Over the course of 554 NHL games, the six-foot-five, 222-pound D-man has collected 76 points and 628 penalty minutes.
The acquisition for the Predators at the deadline is indicative of the team’s huge turnaround this season as it has clawed its way out of the basement of the NHL standings, amid a flurry of major injuries, and is fighting for a playoff spot in the Central Division.
