The Ottawa Senators will be without a forward for the remainder of Thursday's game.
William Eklund exited against the Philadelphia Flyers in the first period after suffering a lower-body injury. The team announced he will not return.
The injury happened midway through the opening frame as Eklund was on the receiving end of a hit from Flyers defenceman Samuel Benoit. Eklund was unable to put weight on his left leg and was assisted to the Senators' dressing room.
Head coach Travis Green had no update on Eklund after the game.
The 23-year-old Swede is in his first season with the Senators after he was acquired from the San Jose Sharks ahead of the 2026 draft for a first-round pick.
In three games this season, Eklund has one goal and one assist. For his career, he has 51 goals and 165 points in 255 games.
